About

Plett Lagoon Estate is a contemporary coastal home shaped by procession, section, and landscape. Approached from the street as a calm, screened volume, the architecture compresses at arrival before releasing into expansive views of the Keurbooms River and the ocean beyond.

The ground level forms the social heart of the home, where living, dining, and kitchen spaces unfold laterally toward terraces, the pool, and the horizon. A compact central core — housing services, circulation, and back-of-house functions — anchors the plan, allowing the perimeter to remain open, light-filled, and continuously connected to outdoor space.

To the rear, sheltered courtyards and planted terraces temper light, wind, and privacy, creating a sequence of protected outdoor rooms. The architecture balances openness toward the view with more controlled, screened edges to the street and neighbouring plots.

The house is shaped by the site’s slope, with a partially embedded basement, an elevated living plane, and private accommodation stepping lightly above. Bedrooms withdraw from the social level below, opening to terraces and filtered outlooks, while a roof terrace extends the living sequence upward, offering an elevated vantage point over the coastal landscape.

Solid volumes, deep overhangs, and vertical screening devices give the building a calm and grounded presence — a contemporary dwelling embedded within its terrain rather than placed upon it.
