Sunset Avenue
Sunset Avenue is a terraced family residence set high on the slopes of Llandudno, commanding uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean.
Embedded into the hillside, the architecture descends with the natural gradient in a sequence of layered horizontal planes. Each level extends outward into generous terraces, planted gardens, and green roofs — dissolving the boundary between built form and landscape.
The design negotiates solidity and openness. Deep overhangs provide protection from coastal conditions, while vertical courtyards and planted edges introduce filtered light and natural ventilation deep into the interior. Living spaces unfold seamlessly toward expansive terraces and pool decks, establishing a continuous relationship with sea and sky.
Private family and guest levels are carefully positioned to ensure retreat, while maintaining direct connection to the landscape and beach below.
Natural materials, strong horizontal datum lines, and integrated landscaping ground the house within its dramatic coastal terrain — allowing it to sit confidently yet quietly within the slope.
