Sunset Avenue
Set high on the slopes of Llandudno, this coastal home is shaped by its position between mountain and sea. Embedded within the natural terrain, the architecture unfolds in layered horizontal planes that step with the site while orienting outward toward uninterrupted ocean views.
Living spaces extend seamlessly onto generous terraces that frame sunsets and distant horizons. Deep overhangs, vertical timber screens, and planted roof edges modulate light and wind, balancing openness with shelter. Expansive glazing dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing the landscape to permeate daily life.
A protected garden courtyard and entertainment pavilion establish a more intimate sequence of outdoor rooms, sheltered from prevailing winds and immersed in planting. These spaces provide contrast to the expansive ocean frontage, offering enclosure, privacy, and retreat.
Natural stone, warm timber detailing, and a restrained material palette anchor the building within its rugged coastal setting.
The result is a contemporary dwelling attuned to its environment — expansive toward the horizon, yet grounded and protected within the landscape.
